Group Leader Introduction

Hosoowi Lee is a Research Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Nano-science at Ewha Womans University. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Yonsei University and previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institut Charles Sadron, affiliated with the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). Her research expertise includes organic chemistry and nanoscience. She currently leads independent research projects supported by the Sejong Science Fellowship, conducts international collaborative research, including projects with teams in Singapore, and teaches undergraduate major courses. Drawing on her research experience in both Korea and France, she aims to support international researchers in navigating Korean research culture, funding systems, academic communication, and career development.

Group Purpose

The group aims to support the career development of international researchers and graduate students in Korea by providing practical guidance on Korean lab culture, post-Ph.D. career pathways, research funding, proposal writing, and global collaboration. It also seeks to build a sustainable multidisciplinary R&D network that helps members establish themselves successfully in the Korean research ecosystem and develop long-term international research partnerships.

Description

The group will hold six regular Saturday meetings from July to November 2026. The program covers research life and lab culture in Korea, post-Ph.D. career planning, career opportunities in academia, national research institutes, and corporate laboratories, strategic academic CV writing and cold emailing, Korea’s R&D funding system and grant proposal preparation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global research networking. Participants will develop individual career roadmaps, receive peer feedback on CVs, explore practical funding and proposal strategies, and collaborate on interdisciplinary research pitching activities. The final session will include presentations, peer feedback, and discussions on sustaining the network beyond the program.
