Coming to Korea to start a postdoctoral role has been a journey that I have enjoyed so far and learned a lot from! There is a lot to thank all of my colleagues who have each been doing their part to create inclusive work and social environments, even if we all come from different backgrounds. Things that would have been nice to know earlier may only come with time (for me, at least). Currently, mostly grateful for the resourcefulness of people in my research group, as well as the for the chance to balance doing my best possible in my research role, as well as learning some of the customs and traditions of the workplace in Korea. While the pace of activities was daunting at the beginning, things became more accessible for me as I reached out more to my colleagues and was more open to give and receive help. And well, if it comes to something concrete, I wish I knew more about Korean language and culture earlier :) looking forward to learn more!

It's great to hear that you've had such a positive experience so far! I think being open to learning from people around you and adapting to a new culture makes a huge difference. Moving to a different country can be challenging, especially when it comes to workplace customs and communication, but having supportive colleagues definitely makes the transition easier. Wishing you continued success in your research and your journey in Korea!
